Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Over the years I have received many questions. Below are answers to some of the most common questions I receive. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me at (949) 226-9681.

What can I expect from my first visit?

After your forms are complete, bring doctor's prescription (if you have one), insurance card if you have a PPO, and any tests or information you would like to share or review. Then a physical therapy evaluation and treatment will be done. A discussion of findings, treatment, goals, home program, what to expect, appointments scheduled and payment will be collected.

Can I complete my paper/computer work before arriving?

Yes, please see the STEP 2 section from the "Your first visit" web page, then print and complete the necessary forms before our first visit. This gives us more time for treatment.

Will insurance cover Cox Physical Therapy treatments?

We are an out-of-network provider for all insurance companies.

What form of payment do you accept?

Checks, cash or credit cards are accepted.

How long and how often are the treatment visits?

Visits are typically 60 - 90 minutes long. This gives me time to collect information, reschedule visits, collect payment and a full hour or more of hands-on treatment. Some patients choose to schedule for a two or three hour block of time when they are traveling from out of the area.

What is the average number of visits patients typically need?

If you have had a long-standing problem for many years you may need more. The number of visits are individualized and customized based on findings in the initial evaluation and progress each week.

What should I wear?

Bring or wear soft and /or loose comfortable clothing.

Do you follow a particular technique?

A multitude of manual techniques is used in order to correct dysfunction, alignment and to promote meaningful function. No one technique is the answer for everyone.

Should I bring previous medical records?

All information is helpful. You may want to bring in operative reports to have them explained to you so you can thoroughly understand your condition.

Where do I park?

Parking is out front of the building, park anywhere, you do not have to park in a visitors parking space. The numbered spaces are not assigned to anybody.

Can I bring my child/ren?

Yes. Children are always welcome if no other option is available.

Do you send a report to my doctor?

Yes, if you are referred by a doctor for treatment and bring in a prescription. If not, your visits are strictly confidential.

Should I bring anyone with me?

Feel free to bring whomever you want, it is at your discretion.

What should I do if I have my period?

Generally, there is no need to reschedule unless you have an infection. If you have heavy flows or cramps on your first day, you may feel more comfortable rescheduling.

How do I get in touch with the office if I am running late or there is a traffic issue?

You can send a text message to (949) 226-9681 since I will most likely be in with a client and unavailable to pick up every call.
